Plate
The plate is complete; there are a few cracks. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot that is free of glaze ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze. It is of the lacustrine type. The painted decoration is visible on the marli and on the internal background. The border of the marli is composed of a blue braid underlined by a line; it is trimmed with a latticework of alternating X’s and lozenges. The central decoration is encircled by a double ring. It consists of two islets painted in faded blue. In the foreground is the main island, lined with rocks and supporting a variety of trees, two of which are branchless. In the background is the secondary island, lined with rocks, a blue-painted parallelogram and trees. The perimeter of the plate is covered with iron-brown plaster.
