Plate
The plate is complete. It has a circular shape with a wavy rim. It is complete. The rim is slightly domed, the marli is flat and set back from the rim; the wall is curved and the bottom is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on a flat ring foot. There is a mark printed in blue below the base and in two registers: BADONVILLER F. T. between two pairs of scrolls; there is also a transfer-printed oval; the transfer-printed decoration is in blue and black, with a motif of a French European genre scene. The molded decoration is visible on the edge of the border. The printed decoration is visible on the marli and on the inner background. The border of the marli is flat, but features two slight wavy grooves, which are bordered on the outside and inside by alternating long and short undulations; their meeting point extends towards the inside of the marli. On the inside, the corrugations themselves are wavy. The blue decoration printed on the marli consists of a row of two-leaved, flowering plants, repeated in succession. The row is bordered at the top by two superimposed lines, a dotted line and a single line. The background consists of a military scene printed in black. In the foreground are two soldiers in uniform, standing on an oval stone paved roadway and in front of a wooden sentry box with a double-pitched roof; a corner of the masonry wall behind the sentry box is embellished with a gas streetlight. The cobbled lane continues into the background, where three gendarmes stand in a row, one holding the handlebars of a bicycle; a high wall runs along the lane, which leads to a massive building, and on one of its walls is written: PRYSON. The scene, cut into a circle, is bordered in its lower half by an inscription: C’EST 8IJU Q’ON EMMÈNE A LA BOITE? _ L’MAJOR Y AVAIT DIT DE PRENDRE QU’EQ CHOSE; IL A PRIS UN VÉLO! The scene is surmounted by : 10. The rendering of the scenery is generally clean.
