Plate
The plate is complete, with some flaws and missing edges. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the side is socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot, which is free of glaze. The glaze is cracked. There are traces of wear on the inner base ; The decoration is hand-painted in underglaze blue. It is of the Chinese garden plant type. The painted decoration is visible on the inner rim and inner base, as well as on the reverse. The decoration on the inner rim consists of a fillet drawn close to the rim and two pairs of long, alternating leafy and flowery groups. The decoration on the wall consists of two double fillets at the top and base. The central decoration is encircled by a double ring; it consists of a long fence made of vertical posts and openwork panels of slats. At its feet rests a large stylized rock with a hole in it, a symbol of the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, traced and painted in blue; behind it stand stylized bamboo plants. Behind the fence are two leafy, flowering plants: one sock, the other high. The marli is adorned on the reverse with two wavy, stylized stems. The rim of the plate is covered with an iron-brown coating.
