Plate
The plate is complete, with a few cracks. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot, located in line with the outer wall and free of glaze. The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding and copper green, in the Imari and Green Family styles. It is geometrically paneled in the Kraak style on the marli, and lacustrian on the background. The decoration on the marli extends right up to the wall, and consists of sixteen rectangular panels featuring three different motifs repeated in alternation. The panels are framed at the top and bottom by a ring outlined in blue. One of the motifs is a latticework background traced in red, with three half-flowers in the corners and center, which are traced in red and painted gold; the center, in reserve, is a poly-lobed oval traced in blue and adorned with a leafy stem traced in red, whose leaves are painted green, and which is surmounted by a flower traced in red and painted gold. The next motif is encircled by a double line filled with faded red; it encircles a leafy, flowering plant, traced and painted in blue and red, with highlights of gold and copper green. The last motif is a latticework background painted dark blue, covered with scales traced in gold; the center, in reserve, is a poly-lobed oval traced in blue and adorned with a leafy stem traced in red, whose leaves are painted green, and which is surmounted by a flower traced in red and painted gold. The background is surrounded by a blue ring. Eight ovals border the inner perimeter, each bordered by a wide ribbon, alternately outlined and painted blue or outlined in blue and painted red. These ovals are adorned with two motifs repeated in alternation and echoing those at the bottom of the marli panels. The central motif is a lakeside landscape. It features two islands in the foreground, outlined in blue and linked by a long bridge on stilts, outlined in blue and painted in faded red. The main island is lined with various trees, including a willow tree outlined in red and dark blue and painted gold and green, a fruit tree outlined in blue and painted red, a pine tree outlined in blue and painted faded red and gold, and a deciduous tree outlined in blue and painted blue, red and green. The island features an oriental-roofed building, rocks traced and painted blue, and flowers traced in red and painted gold. The other island features a number of trees traced in blue and painted in blue, red and gold. Another island in the background, outlined and painted blue, features trees outlined and painted blue and green, and a tall pagoda outlined in red and painted gold.
