Plate
The plate is complete, with only a few small glaze chips missing from the rim. The plate is circular in shape, with a plain, raised rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and the base is flat. The plate rests on a small milled foot in line with the outer wall, which is slightly curved and free of glaze ; The decoration almost completely covers the inside of the plate and the underside of the marli. It is hand-drawn in blue and painted underglaze in blue and overglaze in red with gold highlights. It is a floral pattern in polychrome Imari. The decoration covers the rim, wall and base of the plate. The border is framed by a blue-painted line close to the rim; it features a row of inward-pointing spearheads, traced and painted in blue with gold highlights. The decoration on the wall is a braid traced in blue; painted in red, sometimes outside the limits of the braid, it features an alternating flower and scrolls in reserve. The central decoration is encircled by a blue-painted ring close to the wall braid; it is composed of two long curved branches, foliage and flowers. The curved branches are traced and painted in blue, with gold highlights. Some of the leaves are also painted en suite, while the others are outlined in black and painted green. The three flowers, probably asters, are outlined in red; two are painted en suite, and a third in gold. The latter features a red-painted core. The end of the main branch terminates in a flower traced in red and painted gold, which appears to be a lupine; a small offshoot features a flower en suite. A gold fillet is painted on the top edge of the plate.
