Plate
The plate is complete; it is missing around the rim and has been repaired with metal studs. The plate is circular in shape, with an octagonal rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is free of glaze. The plate is broken and has been repaired with metal spikes. The reverse side of the plate features ten pairs of drilled holes, each holding a copper metal spike. Two of the holes are visible on the front of the plate, and are plugged with white material ; The decoration is hand-painted on the cover in polychrome pink, blue, green, turquoise, red, orange, white and black, in the Famille rose style, with touches of gilding. It is of the vegetal type. The painted decoration is visible on the marli, on the wall and on the internal background. The decoration on the marli is composed of two different elements. Near the rim, there is a frieze made of a row of spearheads sitting on a fillet; the whole is traced in orange and painted in gilding. The other element is made up of four pairs of similar floral elements, made up of stems traced in black, leaves painted in green and flowers painted in pink, orange and blue. The decoration on the wall is a plant frieze traced in red and painted gold, with small leaves painted green; the frieze is composed of elements arranged in a mirror-like fashion. The central decoration rests on an undulating terrace painted green and lined with black lines to imitate grass. On this terrace rest two small blue-painted rocks with holes, symbols of the Chinese philosophy of Taoism. Around the boulders grow plants traced in black and painted green, trimmed with leaves traced in black and painted green and turquoise, and flowers painted white, orange and pink, the latter being larger. The perimeter of the plate is covered with an iron-brown coating.
