Plate
The plate is complete. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is socked and the base is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small milled foot, located in line with the outer wall and free of glaze. The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding, in the Imari style. It is of the vegetal and geometric medallion type. The painted decoration is visible on the inner rim, inner wall and inner base, as well as on the reverse of the rim. The decoration emanates from the center of the background and extends to the marli. The central decoration is a small circular medallion traced and painted in blue: it is adorned with radiating petals, decorated with two alternating designs, painted in red and blue, with leaves and a pearl flower in gold. This medallion is surrounded by a ring of four heart-shaped, blue-painted polylobed elements, each with blue-painted, traced branches, topped by a row of red-painted, traced feathers. Each polylobed element surrounds a blue-painted leafy plant, topped with red-painted leaves. From the center of the outer apex of each polylobed element emerges a long stem traced and painted blue, topped by three groups of leaves in a row. Each stem is adorned with two superimposed volutes, one traced and painted blue, while the other is in reserve, traced in gold and painted red. Between each of the four stems are two distinct elements repeated in alternation. One element is a blue-lined, poly-lobed medallion, similar to the one in the center: it is adorned with radiating petals in two alternating designs, painted red and blue, with gold leaves and a pearl flower. The other element is a poly-lobed medallion traced and painted blue, housing a scene with a building, pagoda and leafy stems, traced and painted blue with gilding; leaves traced and painted red are grafted onto it. On the reverse, the marli is adorned with two similar elements, composed of a wavy leafy stem traced and painted in blue. The center of the background, on the reverse, is decorated with a leaf traced and painted in blue. The rim of the plate is covered with an iron-brown coating.
