Plate
The plate has a circular shape with a rim that is corrugated at regular intervals. It is complete. The rim is thick and slightly domed. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is curved and the bottom is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on a milled foot; the bottom is recessed and flat. There are three traces of three beads arranged in a triangle on the reverse of the plate, and three traces of beads on the marli face. There are linear marks on the inner base. The decoration is applied by transfer printing; it is blue in color and features an Egyptian motif (Dromedary). The printed decoration is visible on the marli, on the wall and on the inner base; it occupies the entire surface of the plate. The decoration on the marli consists of two different elements. Near the rim, it consists of a narrow band encircled by two lines and decorated with arches, in reserve, with a straight line in the center. The other motif, which occupies the entire border and part of the wall, consists of various grouped flowers and leafy branches in reserve, repeated in alternation. The background decoration is surrounded by a band made of a wavy line in reserve and denticulated. It features an Egyptian scene, with a grassy terrace in the foreground and a dromedary standing on it, seen in profile to the left. In front of the dromedary stands a man dressed in European style, holding a rein attached to the dromedary in one hand and a long spear in the other. In the background is a dune surrounded by palm and leafy trees, a gazebo with a domed roof supported by columns, and three pyramids in a row. The rendering of the scenery is sharp.
