Plate
The plate is incomplete; a small shard is missing from the rim, and numerous breaks have been repaired with iron spikes. The plate is circular in shape, with an undulating rim. In cross-section, the marli, which is inclined towards the bottom and slightly concave, is slightly swollen near the rim; the wall is low and curved towards the bottom, which is flat. On the reverse side, the plate has a large, flat bottom that merges with the wall. The wall is flared and the marli is flared and rounded. The body is pinkish-beige in color and covered with a glossy white glaze. Three traces of linear, triangular beads are visible under the marli. The enamel is slightly flawed. The support point and bottom of the plate show signs of wear. The inner base of the plate shows small linear marks. The reverse has 25 pairs of holes, into which are inserted the ends of 22 rusty iron spikes, two of which are broken and missing, while a final pair of holes is plugged with plaster. The spikes are of two types: some are single-stemmed, others double-stemmed; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in underglaze blue. It is of the embroidery type and Bérain style. The molded decoration is visible on the contour and on the border. The outline is wavy; the decoration on the marli appears as slight swellings perpendicular to the outline and aligned with the concave parts. The decoration is painted on the marli and on the background. The marli is decorated with a fillet near the edge, bordering two alternately repeated embroidery elements. Each is made up of mirror-repeated elements, starting from a central element. The background decoration is a medallion made of elements similar to those on the marli, which surround an antique-style female bust on a rectangular base, itself seated on acanthus leaves, and flanked by two female statues with heads and double pairs of wings, whose lower legs are missing. The top of the ensemble features a sort of cross-hatched breastplate edged with embroidery elements, from which a garland hangs. Mirrored birds line the sides.
