Plate reproduction
The plate is complete. It is circular in shape, with an undulating rim. The marli slopes inwards and curves towards the bottom, which is flat without a foot. On the reverse, the border is inclined towards the bottom, circular and flat. There are three pernette marks in a triangular pattern on the reverse. The body is beige, well-fired and covered over its entire surface with a white glaze. There are painted marks on the reverse of the plate: X painted in green; a symbol painted in violet; France underlined and inscribed in violet; The decoration is molded and hand-painted in polychrome of green, yellow, violet, blue underglaze and orange overglaze. The decoration is in the style of chinoiserie. The molded decoration affects the plate’s undulating rim and the marli, which features bulges perpendicular to the rim and grouped in pairs. Painted decoration is applied to the marli, the wall and the base. The border of the marli is adorned with a broad green line between two purple fillets. The marli is decorated with two mirrored terraces, outlined in violet and painted green and yellow, supporting leafy stems outlined in violet and painted green and orange. They are joined by seedlings of leafy stems in green, with blue highlights. The central motif is an Asian-type figure in profile to the left, holding a long pipe with a curved stem; he stands on a terrace lined with leafy stems.
