Plate reproduction
The plate is complete. It is circular in shape, with an undulating rim. The rim is rounded at the edge and slightly concave, the wall curves towards the bottom, which is flat without a foot. The glaze is cracked. There are blue-painted inscriptions printed in the hollow under the base: FAIT & PEINT MAIN M. CHATELAIN STYLE MOUSTIERS XVIIIe s MADE IN FRANCE; M CHATELAIN FAIT MAIN; The decoration is hand-painted in blue and violet on the face of the plate. It features plant and animal motifs. The rim, wall and base are decorated. The border of the marli is decorated with a broad line and a wavy fillet painted in blue. This is followed by leafy, flowering plant elements on a terrace, separated from simple plant elements of smaller format and without a terrace; they are outlined in violet and painted blue. The background is decorated with a bird seen in profile on a terrace and a butterfly; they are outlined in violet and painted blue.
