Plate
The plate is circular with a wavy rim. It is complete, but has a long crack. The rim is thick and slightly domed. The rim of the marli is bulging, the marli is slightly inclined inwards, the wall is curved and the bottom is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on a flat, slightly concave base. There are three pernette marks on the reverse. There is a purple painted mark under the base, an empty fleur-de-lys. There are numerous wear marks under the base. The enamel is missing on the front, reverse and rim. The decoration is molded and hand-painted in polychrome blue, red, green, violet and yellow on the inner rim, wall and base. The molded decoration is visible on the rim. The decoration has a fantastic motif; it has been missed. The decoration on the marli, near the rim, consists of a braid traced in violet, which is adorned with a wavy line painted in red; there is also a pearl painted in blue on either side of the line. The background decoration is difficult to determine, as the enamels have partly run off. The main motif appears to be a mermaid seen in profile to the right; drawn in violet, she has a body and tail painted in blue; a sheet painted orange-red rests on and between her thighs. The upper part of the mermaid has sunk. She is seated on an uneven terrace outlined in violet and painted with green strokes; behind her are two plants, one of which is in bloom, painted in green, blue and yellow. In the background, the terrace continues and one of the valleys is crossed by an arched bridge painted yellow and blue, behind which stand buildings painted in succession. The bridge is flanked by green plant ensembles and leafy, flowering stems, painted in green, blue, yellow and orange, set on a terrace. The marli and the wall on either side of the central motif are adorned with an insect and a butterfly, traced in purple and painted in orange-red, blue, yellow and green. Above the central motif hangs a long, leafy, flowering stem painted in blue, green, yellow and orange-red; it rests on a terrace painted in green and yellow, sitting on the braid. Opposite is a long triangular horn painted yellow and red, surrounded by green leaves, a purple twisted stem and finished with a leaf painted red, blue and yellow. The horn rests under the central terrace.
