Plate
The plate is complete; there is some missing enamel around the rim, and some cracks have been repaired with iron studs. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. In cross-section, the rim is slightly concave, and the wall curves towards the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a flat base. The body is pinkish-beige and covered with a bluish-white glaze; the foot is rounded. Three linear, triangular-shaped bead marks are visible under the wall. The bottom is marked F3 in blue. The reverse side features three rusty iron studs, the ends of which are inserted into as many pairs of drilled holes. Another pair of holes, running through the wall, is visible near one of the spikes; they are filled with a white paste, similar to that used to hold the spikes in place ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue. It was traced in dark blue and painted in blue underglaze. It is of the ironwork and medallion type. The decoration is painted on the marli and on the background. The marli is decorated with a central furrow painted in blue. This groove supports a row of solid, outward-pointing triangles, painted on a dark-blue fillet. The marli’s main decoration consists of a row of scrolls imitating ironwork, composed of two alternately repeated motifs. One motif is composed of two mirrored scrolls, linked by a band supporting a trifoliate plant motif and surrounding a solid pearl. The other motif is composed of the ends of adjacent scrolls, which are linked by a three-lobed mass topped by a small pearl flower. The background features a medallion within a ring. The medallion is circular with a wavy outline; it has a blue background and is decorated with plant elements in reserve. It features a central flower from which radiate leaves with and without veins and scrolls. This medallion is surrounded by a ring of alternating ovals and small lozenges, traced and painted in blue.
