Plate
The plate is complete; however, the glaze around the rim has disappeared, and a crack has been consolidated with an iron spike. The plate is circular in shape, with a plain rim. In cross-section, the rim is almost flat, while the marli slopes towards the bottom, which is slightly domed on the face. The reverse of the plate has a slightly depressed center. The base of the plate is angular. Turning rings are visible on the reverse of the plate. The body is beige in color and covered with a bluish-white enamel; there are enamel chips under the base, and a burr near the rim. Three traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the marli. The plate has a crack, which has been consolidated with a rusty iron spike; made from a double iron rod, it is inserted into two small circular holes drilled in the back of the plate and held in place by a hard white paste ; The decoration is hand-painted in polychrome. It has been traced and painted in blue underglaze, and in red with yellow and green highlights overglaze. It is of the compartmented braid and floral basket type. The decoration is painted on the marli, near the rim, and in the center of the background. The border is decorated with a ring-shaped braid. It is outlined in blue and red, and painted in blue, red and yellow. The braid is decorated with two repeated motifs. The main motif, in reserve and mirrored, consists of a reserved flower set between two scrolls that emerge from two wing-shaped quarter-flowers. These flowers are adorned with red radiating lines. The other motif is a latticework in red. These two motifs are separated by a half-flower traced in red with a blue-painted core, which is set in two vertical bands whose central portion is painted yellow, while the sides are painted blue. The background is decorated with two motifs: a flowery basket surrounded by a ring motif. The basket is truncated cone-shaped, with a flat swollen base; the horizontal rim is swollen, as is the junction between the wall and the base. It is outlined in blue and partially filled with a red-painted lattice; the basket’s rendering imitates rattan. From the top of the basket emerges a central flower flanked by two aligned leaves; these are surrounded by leafy vegetal stems and grapes, and all these trimmings are outlined in dark blue. The flower is painted green and yellow; some of the leaves are partially filled in with red radiating lines. Other leaves are painted blue or red, while the grapes are partially painted blue. Red tendrils hang from the grapes around the edge of the basket. The basket rests on a flared base, itself set on a blue-painted terrace. The ring around the basket is a chain made of three distinct, alternately repeated elements. One consists of two concentric lozenges traced in blue, while the inside is painted yellow; its tips are trimmed with pearls traced and painted in blue. Another element is a blue-painted oval with a red-painted lattice; it is adorned with four blue-traced pearls: two are painted blue, the other two yellow. The third element is a blue-painted flower with a red-painted core.
