Saucer

The saucer is complete. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is thick. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on a wide annular foot. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The foot is beveled and free of glaze in places ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding, in the Imari style. It features a flowering vase and medallions. The painted decoration is visible under the rim and on the inner base, as well as on the outer wall. The decoration under the rim consists of a wide blue painted fillet. The central decoration features a large baluster-shaped vase seated on a flat footed support. The vase is outlined in blue and decorated with a geometric design outlined and painted in blue and red, and a large flower painted in red. It rests on a square support, traced in blue and painted in faded blue and red. From the vase emerges a long, massive stem, traced and painted in blue, trimmed with leaves and flowers traced in red and painted in red and gold; it is accompanied by long, curving, drooping stems, traced in blue, similar to ferns. The vase is flanked by two medallions with undulating contours; traced in blue, they house a plant motif with a stylized building, traced and painted in blue, red and faded red. The top of the saucer is covered in gilding. The decoration on the outer wall consists of two similar wavy, leafy stems, traced and painted in blue, and topped with small flowers painted in red.
