Saucer
The saucer is complete; it has a crack. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is tapered. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on a rounded foot ring. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The foot is beveled and free of glaze. There are faults in the paste under the base. The saucer is slightly deformed; the decoration covers the inside of the saucer, i.e. the inner rim and bottom. The decoration is of the vegetable type, treated in Imari. It is hand-painted in two-tone blue underglaze, then traced and painted in iron red, with gold highlights, over glaze. The braid under the inner edge is traced in blue and outlined with a fillet. It is composed of two alternately repeated elements. One element is a plant motif traced and painted in red, bordered by two leaves painted in blue with gold, and set between curved bands traced and painted in blue with gold. The second element is a petal trellis with spikes traced in red. The background decoration consists of a small central medallion made of a circle traced in blue. Surrounding this medallion are three identical triangular plant elements: a long, central, U-shaped stem, traced and painted in blue with gilding. The stem is surmounted by a flower traced and painted in red and blue with gilding, while its extremities are provided with flowers free of blue. Leaves are outlined in red with veins. The center of the medallion is occupied by a small leafy stem traced and painted in blue and trimmed with a flower and ribbed leaves traced and painted in red. The top of the saucer is covered with a brown-painted ferruginous coating.
