Saucer
The saucer is complete; the glaze is missing around the rim. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is flared. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on a rounded foot ring. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The base is bevelled and free of glaze ; The decoration covers the inside of the saucer, i.e. the inner rim and base, as well as part of the outer wall. The decoration is of the Chinese landscape type, treated in Imari. It is hand-painted in two-tone blue underglaze, then traced and painted in iron red, with gold highlights, over glaze. A fillet is traced under the inner rim in blue. The decoration on the inner wall consists of three repeated mirror-like motifs. The main scene is a landscape painted on an undulating terrace traced and painted in blue, which rests on a ring traced in blue; it consists of a tall central tree, traced and painted in blue with gilding and a few leaves traced and painted in red; it is bordered by a house and a Chinese pagoda, traced and painted in blue. Red-painted clouds cover the sky, and two blue-painted mountains with gilding appear in the background. The scene is bordered by a parallelogram-shaped mass painted blue and adorned with a gilded flower. This mass is flanked by a double lobed medallion traced in blue; its interior is painted in faded red and decorated, in reserve, with a plant and floral motif bordered by two curved leaves, traced and painted in blue with gilding. The center of the base is adorned with a ring traced in blue surrounding a small leafy stem, traced and painted in blue, and surmounted by a flower, traced and painted in red. The top of the saucer is covered with gilding, partially faded. The outer wall is adorned with two long wavy leafy stems, traced and painted in blue, and with a few small leaves traced and painted in red; they rest on a ring traced in blue.
