Saucer
The saucer is complete, with some glaze missing around the rim. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is flared. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on a rounded foot ring. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The foot is beveled and free of glaze. The decoration covers the inside of the saucer, i.e. the inner rim and bottom, as well as part of the outer wall. The decoration is of the vegetable type, treated in Imari. It is hand-painted in two-tone blue under glaze, then traced and painted in iron red, with gold highlights, over glaze. A fillet is traced under the inner rim in blue. The background decoration consists of two superimposed terraces traced in blue. One rests on the fillet and supports three small flowers traced and painted in red with gilding. The other, wider terrace supports a trestle table, outlined in blue and painted in blue and red. Behind the table are three branches traced and painted blue; they are trimmed with leaves and flowers traced and painted blue, and leaves and flowers traced and painted red. The outer wall is adorned with two long, stylized branches outlined in blue.
