Saucer

The saucer is complete. It is circular in shape. The wall is slightly flared at the top, with a straight edge and a corrugated top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on an annular foot, with a beveled outer rim. The bottom is recessed and flat. The bottom glaze, near its junction with the foot, has been wiped clean. The decoration is molded, transfer printed and hand-painted; it is blue with gilding and a floral motif. The molded decoration is visible on the inner wall, and perceptible on the outer wall; it consists of twisted vertical flutes, from the bottom to the rim (Fluted wrythen). The painted decoration is located below the inner rim; it consists of a wide horizontal band painted dark blue, with two alternating motifs painted in gold: a sloping leafy stem and a pearl. The perimeter of the band, as well as the top of the object’s rim, are outlined in gold. The printed decoration is visible on the inner wall, and comprises two motifs. The main motif consists of three flower corollas, whose stems and leaves have been painted in gold. The other motif, around the inner background, is a chain of pearls encircled in gold and linked by an elongated, gold-painted trifoliate motif. The decoration in the center of the background is a geometrical shape composed of a central blue disk surrounded by concentric pearls in a staggered pattern, from which clovers emerge, all painted in gold.
