Saucer
The saucer is complete, with a crack on the bottom. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is pinched in places. The wall extends to the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a ring-shaped foot. The underside of the bottom is recessed and flat. There is a mark printed in red below the bottom: it consists of a ring enclosing inscriptions and a cartouche. The inscriptions on the inner circumference of the ring are: * The GOLD MEDAL awarded MAY 30th 1820 * Patronized by the SOCIETY of ARTS . The cartouche consists of a laurel wreath tied and closed at the top, enclosing an inscription in three registers: Coalport Felt Spar Porcelain. Under the ring is another mark: I. ROSE & Co. There are small marks on the inner base; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in polychrome and gold overglaze; it is of the floral type. The molded decoration is visible on the inner wall. It consists of five long double horizontal scrolls under the inner rim, decorated with flowers and leaves at their junction and a ribbon tied with leafy stems and flowers at the base. The polychrome decoration is painted in pink, violet, yellow, orange, blue and green. It consists of three different groups of flowers and leaves, arranged in a triangle on the wall, between which slips a small leafy, flowering stem; a similar stem adorns the center of the saucer base. A fillet of gilding adorns the rim of the saucer.
