Saucer

The saucer is complete; it has some cracks which have been repaired with spikes. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim is plain. The wall extends to the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a ring-shaped foot. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. There is a mark painted in red under the bottom near the foot: 128. On the inside wall of the foot, a dot is painted in dark blue. The saucer has been repaired using seven copper spikes, each inserted into a pair of small holes drilled in the outer wall of the saucer. The ends of some of these studs are visible on the face of the saucer ; The decoration is painted over and under glaze. The underglaze is dark blue and the overglaze is red and orange-red, with gilding highlights, in the Japanese Imari style, with vegetal and floral motifs. The painted decoration is visible on the inner wall, or on the entire wall and on the base. On the wall and part of the base, it consists of a dark blue background with three flowers in reserve under the rim and three medallions in reserve on the wall, all arranged in a triangle and alternating. Below the inner rim, the blue background is covered with a gilded fillet. The three leaves point downwards; their contours are enhanced by gilding and they feature veins painted in gold. From these leaves emerge leafy stems in gilding, and from them hang stylized leafy stems of decreasing size. The medallions are poly-lobed and gilded around the edges, each containing a three-leaf plant element painted dark blue at the base, flanked by stylized horizontal elements outlined in orange-red, painted orange-peach with gold highlights. From the top of this element emerge four or five slender stems outlined in orange-red; they are adorned with three sequentially painted leaves, gilded tendrils and one or two flowers painted in orange-red and peach, with gold highlights, and in dark blue with gilding. The central decoration is a circular medallion painted in gilding, housing a ribbed stem in gilding, with a central flower with rounded petals, in dark blue with gilding.
