Dish

The dish is complete; a good portion of the enamel around the rim is missing. It is circular with a plain rim. The rim is narrow and inclined inwards, the wall curved towards the flat bottom. The dish rests on a ring-shaped foot, the base of which is free of glaze. The center is recessed and flat. The reverse shows three traces of pernette in a triangular pattern. The glaze on the reverse shows small needle holes. The foot has a hole drilled through its wall, with no glaze on the inside. The glaze on the front is shiny; the decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is floral in style. The decoration is delimited by a wide fillet painted on the marli, near the edge. The decoration on the marli, the wall and part of the background consists of two similar motifs arranged in mirror image: those on the marli point inwards, while those on the wall point outwards. Each group consists of three identical elements, arranged in a triangle. Each group consists of a blue-painted, traced polylobed element, from which emerge arched leaves and a long central stem terminating in a stylized flower. The space between these elements is covered with leafy stems, groups of four small beads and curved lines. The background is framed by a double ring; it consists of a central flower bordered by two groups of fan-shaped leaves and two elements similar to those on the border. The space between these elements is covered with leafy stems, groups of four small pearls and curved lines.
