Dish

The dish is complete; there is some missing enamel around the rim and some breaks have been repaired with spikes and wire. The dish is oval in shape, with an undulating rim; the center of the ends is concave. In cross-section, the rim is bulging, the marli sloping towards the bottom and slightly concave; the wall is low and curved towards the bottom, which is flat. On the reverse, the dish has a large, flat base; the wall is flared and the marli is flared and domed. The body is beige in color and covered with a glossy white glaze. There are slight flaws in the glaze. The support point and bottom of the dish show signs of wear. There are linear wear marks on the inner base. The dish has three pairs of drilled holes into which as many iron wires are inserted; the ends of two of these wires are twisted on the reverse of the dish. The reverse of the dish has seven other pairs of drilled holes; four iron studs, two of which are made from two iron wires, have their ends inserted in these holes, while the others are free. The studs are consolidated with a white paste; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in underglaze blue. It features stylized embroidery and floral motifs. The molded decoration is visible on the rim and the border. The contour is undulating; the marli is domed and features slight bulges perpendicular to the contour and aligned with the concave parts. The decoration is painted on the marli and on the background. The marli is decorated with a filleted band bordering acanthus leaf and scroll elements, similar to embroidery, spaced out and repeated in alternation. The main motif is composed of repeated mirrored elements, starting from a central element. The background decoration is floral. It consists of leafy stems, similar to ferns or lupines.
