Dish
The dish is complete; a crack has been consolidated with an iron spike. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. The rim is flat and slopes slightly inwards, the wall is low and curves towards the bottom, which is not quite flat. On the reverse, the dish rests on a ring-shaped foot, the base of which is unglazed. The center is recessed and flat. The foot is pierced by a fixing hole, the inside of which is unglazed. The body is beige, and the object is covered with a bluish-white enamel. There are three pernette marks arranged in a triangle on the reverse. There is a mark painted under the bottom, in two registers: D— PAW 7. The crack has been consolidated on the reverse of the dish by means of a small iron spike, the ends of which are inserted into a pair of circular holes drilled on the reverse ; The decoration is hand-painted in blue on the front and reverse of the object. It features a figurative motif in the style of China’s Transitional period. It is painted on the rim, the wing, the wall and the bottom; it is drawn in very dark blue, almost black, and painted in blue. The rim and inner edge are painted blue. The decoration on the wing extends over the wall and around the base. The decoration is divided into three oval medallions with wavy outlines; with a blue background, they are adorned with a reserved decoration composed in the center of four vertical rectangular shapes, which are bordered by stylized scrolls. They are bordered at each end by three triangular leaves with dark-blue veins. Between the medallions hang lanterns edged with scrolls and acanthus leaves. The background is framed by a pentagram, the points of which are painted blue. The space between the points is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves. The main decor features a scene with a male figure dressed in Oriental style, seated in a yoga position on the floor. The scene includes grass, shrubs and hills. On the reverse, the dish is lined with compartments; delimited by a line, they are adorned with a ring.
