Dish
The dish is almost complete; a fragment is missing from the lower edge and a break has been repaired with iron studs. The dish is circular with a plain outline. It is thick and heavy. In cross-section, the dish is flat with a slightly raised rim; the bottom rests on a massive ring foot, whose fulcrum is free of glaze. The body is pinkish-beige in color and covered with a bluish-white enamel; there are enamel smudges under the dish, near the rim. Three traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the wall. The foot is pierced by two circular suspension holes, the inner perimeter of which is filled with enamel. There is a diffuse mark painted in blue on the reverse of the dish: B (? diffused). A break runs through the dish from the missing fragment; it is repaired with six rusty iron spikes. Made from a double iron rod, they are each inserted into a pair of small circular holes drilled in the back of the dish and held in place by a hard white paste. There are areas of amati enamel on the inner base, as well as small linear marks ; The decoration is hand-painted in bichromy. It has been traced and painted in dark blue underglaze and red overglaze. It is of the compartmented braid and floral basket type. The decoration is painted on the wing near the edge and in the center of the background. On the aisle, the decoration consists of a braid. The braid is outlined in blue and painted in blue and red. The braid is adorned with two alternately repeated motifs. One is in reserve on a blue-painted background: it consists of mirrored elements on either side of a half-flower flanked by two scrolls, followed by quarter-flowers topped with scrolls. These flowers are adorned with red radiating lines. The other motif is a latticework drawn in red and trimmed with blue-painted pearls. These two motifs are separated by a half-flower traced in red with a blue-painted core; it is set in two blue-painted arched bands, while the sides are in reserve. The background features a flowering basket. The basket is truncated cone-shaped, with a flat swollen bottom and a flat swollen rim; it is outlined in blue and partially filled with a latticework painted red; the basket’s rendering imitates rattan. From the top of the basket emerge a central flower framed by quarter-flowers and two flowers; they are surrounded by flowers, leafy plant stems and grapes. Some of the flowers and their leaves are outlined in blue and partially filled in with red radiating lines or red dotted latticework; the large central flower is painted in faded blue, as are the grapes. The curved plant stems and other leaves are outlined and painted blue. Two blue tendrils hang from either side of the basket. The basket rests on a sort of ironwork-like support, the elements of which are arranged in a mirror-like fashion. It consists of two scrolls ending in acanthus leaves curving upwards. The scrolls are linked by a curved stem. At the center of the support is a plant motif adorned with two pearls, while the base of the curved stem is adorned with a plant motif flanked by two scrolls. These elements are traced and painted in blue, with the exception of the central motifs, which are filled with a latticework of dots traced in red. The red decoration on the wing has been partially erased.
