Historical context
Sculpture depicting two seals (in Inuit: natsiq) trapped on the pack ice between a seated bear tilting backwards, and the head of another polar bear (nanuq, in Inuktitut) emerging, its mouth wide open. This second bear is of much more imposing proportions, while everything indicates that it is about to attack its two stunned prey.
