Historical context

Sculpture of a small herd of five beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) in walrus ivory, dispersed on a caribou antler base. At one end, an adult is followed by an immature, possibly its calf, while a pair swims in the center, barely separated from a solitary individual.
