Historical context

Walrus ivory sculpture representing a polar bear (nanuq, in Inuit) and two seals (natsiq, in Inuit) in an interlocking, highly compact scene. The elongated shape of the whole is dictated by the long, narrow structure of the walrus tusk that supports it.
