Bowl
The container is complete; there are some cracks. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. In cross-section, the container has a flared wall with a plain top, and a flat bottom resting on a ring-shaped foot; The decoration is hand-painted with enamels painted on glaze in pink, blue, green, turquoise, orange, white and black, in the Famille rose style, with touches of gilding in the Imari style. It is of the vegetal type. The painted decoration is visible under the rim and on the inner background. The decoration under the rim is composed of a frieze of alternately repeated plant and flower motifs. The central element is a group of three leaves traced in black and painted in green and turquoise, from which the same elements are reproduced in mirror image: a floral element traced in red and painted in gold, a cluster of small leaves painted in green, a flower traced in red and painted in orange, then a half-flower traced in red and painted in pink. The central scene is composed of vegetation and flowers; at its feet are three bands of short grass drawn in black and painted green. In the foreground, a large rock with a hole in it, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, is painted blue. On either side of the rock stand two different sock plants with green-painted leaves; in one case their flower is painted pink, and traced in orange, and painted gold in the other. Behind the rock are two massive, leafy plants with flowers. In one case, the trunk is traced in orange and painted gold, its leaves are painted green and turquoise, and it features two flowers traced in orange and painted gold, like the one in the frieze below the edge. The trunk of the other is traced in black and painted green, and its leaves are painted green and turquoise; the main flower is traced in orange and painted gold, another is painted white and pink, while the others are painted pink.
