Bowl
The bowl is complete, with a small gap that has been filled with plaster and painted. It is circular in shape. Its wall is slightly flared, with a straight rim and domed top. The lower part of the wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a massive ring-shaped foot, whose beveled base is free of glaze; the bottom is recessed and flat. The inner base has a number of small marks; the decoration is hand-painted in polychrome enamels in pink, blue, green, orange, black and white over glaze, with gold highlights, in the Famille rose style. It is of the Oriental garden type. It is visible under the inner rim and on the outer wall. The decoration under the inner rim is a fillet bordering a row of Ruyi heads, traced in orange. The inner base is decorated with a leafy stem traced in black and painted green, supporting a pink-painted flower; it is partially faded. The wall is decorated with two different motifs: a garden and a small flower on the opposite wall. The garden consists of a terrace traced in black and painted faded green, lined with grass traced in black and painted green. It supports a high rock with holes, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, drawn in black and painted blue. It is partly masked by a large peony drawn in black and painted pink and white. It is bordered by leaves outlined in black and painted green. On either side of the rock is a fence, drawn and painted orange, with vertical posts and panels adorned with sloping bars. Behind the fence grow long stems traced in black, painted green, and blue in one case, trimmed with leaves traced in black and painted green and various flowers. Some flowers are painted red and white, white only, while others are traced and painted orange, sometimes with gold highlights. The opposite wall is adorned with a leafy stem traced in black and painted green, supporting a flower traced and painted orange.
