Bowl
The container is complete; the rim is missing and some breaks and cracks have been repaired with metal studs. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. In cross-section, the container features a flared wall with a plain top, and a flat bottom resting on an annular foot. The reverse side of the dish features five pairs of drilled holes, each accommodating a copper metal spike. The ends of two spikes are visible on the face of the container and riveted together ; The decoration is hand-painted with enamels painted on pink, blue, green, turquoise, orange, white and black glazes, in the Famille rose style, with touches of gilding in the Imari style. It is of the vegetal type. The painted decoration is visible under the rim and on the inner background. The decoration under the rim consists of a wide band outlined in orange, with a pale blue background and a lattice of four-pointed stars outlined in black. This band is adorned with four large rectangular cartouches with lobed corners, in reserve and adorned with flowers, which are outlined in red and painted orange, and outlined in red and painted white and pink. On the band, there’s a flower outlined in red and painted gold between each cartouche, and in the center of the top and base of the cartouches, there’s a flower outlined in black and painted gold at the top, and a flower painted pink at the base. The central element is a group of leafy, flowering plants. The plants are outlined in black and their leaves are outlined in black and painted green and turquoise. The largest flower is painted pink, while others are painted white, yellow and blue, and traced in orange and painted gold. The top of the bowl is covered with an iron-brown coating.
