Bowl
The container is complete; there are some cracks and a few chips on the rim. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. In cross-section, the container has a flared wall with a plain top, and a flat bottom resting on a ring-shaped foot; the decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gilding, in the Imari style. It is of the vegetal type. The painted decoration is visible under the rim and on the inner background. The decoration under the rim is composed of three identical plant and floral groups arranged in a triangle. Each consists of a leafy plant traced and painted in blue, whose flowers are traced and painted in red with gold highlights. The central decoration features a tobacco plant sitting on an undulating terrace. The terrace is outlined in blue and gold. The plant is traced and painted in blue and trimmed with four large leaves traced and painted in blue with gold highlights. The flowers are traced in red and painted in red and gold.
