Bowl

The bowl is complete, with one crack. It is circular in shape. Its wall is slightly flared, with a straight rim and domed top. The lower part of the wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a solid ring foot, whose beveled base is free of glaze; the bottom is recessed and flat. The glaze is thin and dull; the decoration is hand-painted in pink, blue, green, orange, black, white and brown polychrome enamels over glaze, with gold highlights, in the Famille rose style. It is of the Oriental garden type. It is visible under the inner rim and on the outer wall. The decoration under the inner rim is a braid drawn in black and outlined with a line. It is composed of two alternately repeated motifs. One is a double latticework in black on a green background. The other features a central flower traced in black and painted pink, bordered by leaves traced in black and painted green. The center of the background features a small central flower outlined in black and painted pink, bordered by leaves outlined in black and painted green. The wall is decorated with two different motifs, a garden and a small flower on the opposite wall. The garden consists of two terraces, one in dark green with black grass, the other in pale green. The dark-green terrace supports a large boulder with holes, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, outlined in black and painted blue. From this rock emerge long leafy stems traced in black and painted green and pale green, and a large peony painted pink and white; there are also bamboo stems painted green, with leaves painted green and orange, with touches of gold. An orange-painted plant element and a small peony grow close to the ground. The other terrace supports a brown fence with vertical posts, whose panels are painted faded orange and decorated with Ruyi heads in reserve. Behind this fence is another blue-painted rock with holes, leafy stems and a large flower painted orange and gold. The opposite wall is decorated with a flower similar to the one on the inner background. A brown iron-based plaster covers the top of the bowl.
