The container is complete; a break has been repaired with glue. It is square with rounded corners and a corrugated rim. In cross-section, the container has an outwardly flaring bottom wall and a flat base resting on a ring-shaped foot free of glaze ; The decoration is painted in monochrome blue underglaze. It is of the oriental scenic type. The decoration is visible under the rim, on the wall and on the inner base. The decoration under the rim consists of a complex frieze repeated in mirror image on all four sides. At the top is a narrow beaded ribbon, traced and painted in blue. The main ribbon features a lattice background with a geometric scroll motif in the center and a butterfly with outstretched wings in the corners, with a wheel with triangular spokes at the tip of each wing. At the base of the wall, the central motif is surrounded by two superimposed ribbons in blue: one with a row of teeth, the other with a row of trident motifs. The central decoration consists of three islands. The island in the foreground is undulating, surrounded by rocks and lined with shrubs and various plants; in the center stand two Oriental-style figures. The island on the left is more rugged, housing a tall pagoda with a stepped roof and an open lower level supported by columns; it is flanked by a tall, leafy tree. A final island houses three different buildings with double-sloped roofs, surrounded by trees and mountains. At the foot of this island is a rock that conceals a small boat with a passenger.
