Bowl

The bowl is complete; there are small chips on the rim, cracks, and a break has been repaired with glue. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, and the rim has a slightly corrugated top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on a ring-shaped foot. The underside of the base is recessed and flat. The foot is free of glaze ; The decoration is hand-painted in polychrome enamels of pink, orange, green, violet, yellow, black and reddish brown, with gold highlights, over glaze. The design is figurative and scenic, in the Famille rose style. The decoration is painted under the rim, on the wall and on the inner background. Under the rim, it consists of a red line bordering six pink-painted half-flowers; the space between them shows traces of gilding, creating a background. The decoration on the wall continues on the background: it consists of six panels divided by ropes with hooks and cords with knots in a double oval, traced in brown. Three of the panels feature Oriental-dressed male figures in an outdoor setting with leafy and non-leafy trees and animals. The other panels are decorated with groups of flowers painted in pink, orange, purple and yellow, and green leaves, the stems traced in black. The medallion supports three half-flowers similar to those below the rim. The decoration in the center of the background is a wavy medallion, with a double line in brown. It surrounds flowers painted pink, orange and violet, with the leaves painted green and outlined in black.
