Bowl
The bowl is complete; broken, it has been repaired with metal studs. It is circular in shape. In profile, the bowl has an upwardly flaring wall topped by a straight rim. The lower part of the wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat. The bowl rests on an annular foot, the fulcrum of which is unglazed. There are small linear marks on the bottom. On the reverse side, there are three grey metal studs, the ends of which are inserted into as many pairs of holes drilled in the wall and bottom; the two studs on the wall pass through it, and their ends are riveted to the inner wall ; The decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is of the scenic Chinese garden type. The decoration is on the wall and on the background. The decoration on the wall consists of a fillet near the edge, bordering a row of Ruyi heads with points; this row is interrupted by the same beaded and Ruyi-headed motif, arranged in a cross. The background features a garden scene, bordered by a double ring and a row of semicircles. It consists of grassy terraces over which rises a fence made of vertical and angled plank sections, enclosing a tall leafy plant, flowers and a rectangular mass. Birds twirl in the sky. There’s an iron-brown coating around the perimeter of the plate.
