Historical context
Before the advent of motorized vehicles in the early 20th century, the most commonly used domestic vehicle was the two-wheeled cart pulled by an ox or horse. Its main use was domestic. Residents used carts to transport crops, cut and transport hay, and bring wheat to the seigneurial mills.
