Black and white photograph. View of the Sœurs du Bon-Pasteur mill (formerly the Crochet mill) on the banks of Laval-des Rapides. Bordeaux prison visible from across Rivière des Prairies. The Crochet mill (named for the hook-shaped bank on which it stands) was built by the Séminaire de Québec in 1805-1806. Powered by the rapids of the Rivière des Prairies, the mill supplied flour to the Séminaire de Québec. In 1895, the Good Shepherd Sisters acquired a large plot of land on which to build the Crochet mill. The mill was demolished in 1930 following the construction of a dam on the Rivière des Prairies.
