Black and white photograph. The new Rivière-des-Prairies hydroelectric power station, inaugurated in the early 1930s, seen from Île Jésus (Laval). The construction of a dam in 1928 raised the water level, causing the Rivière des Prairies rapids to disappear and submerging shorelines (particularly those of Laval-des-Rapides) and islands (Sergent and Hibou islands, part of Visitation island and the Perry island jetty).
