Black and white photograph. Saint-Vincent-de-Paul ferry on Rivière des Prairies. View of the banks of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, now Duvernay in Laval. The shuttle between Montreal-North (a new municipality created in 1915) and Saint-Vincent-de-Paul was still operated by cable ferry. The landing stages were located in the extension of Bellevue (in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul) and Pigeon (in Montreal-North) streets. The Sigouin family has been operating a ferry since the early 19th century. With the opening of the Pie-IX Bridge to automobile traffic on December 5, 1937, the use of this old ferry became obsolete.
