Tea bowl
The bowl is complete. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, with a straight rim and a corrugated top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. The bowl rests on a straight ring-shaped foot. The bottom is recessed and flat. There is a mark printed in blue below the bottom: t. The inner base has a number of small linear marks; the decoration is molded, transfer printed and painted with gilding. The decoration is dark blue with an oriental motif (Temple). The molded decoration is visible on the outer wall, and perceptible on the inner wall; it consists of vertical grooves, from the foot to the rim. Printed decoration is visible below the rim, on the inner base and on the outer wall. The decoration under the rim is complex and consists of two groups of different elements repeated in alternation. One group consists of a half-flower in reserve, from which a long scroll extends; it is flanked on the right by staggered cells and on the left by a latticework with off-center beads, similar to fish scales; this latticework is adorned with a trifoliate motif with a reserve outline, bordered by wheels and flowers. The other motif features a six-petal flower in reserve, in the center of a lattice. The background decoration appears to be a group of three rocks or plant masses. The decoration on the outer wall is an oriental scene with river, bridge and islands. On the main island are two tiered pagodas, with trees in between. The pagoda on the right is flanked by a wall and features an opening, akin to a staircase, in which a figure looms. At the base of the wall is an opening in which a figure also appears, opposite which is another figure. In the foreground is a non-hatched, oval-shaped area with two standing figures, seen in profile and facing each other; one is carrying an umbrella. To the left, a single-arch bridge spans a stream; a figure crosses the bridge on horseback, followed by a figure on foot with a long parasol. A small boat stands at the foot of the bridge. The secondary scenery includes another boat sailing past another island with buildings and trees; rocks border it at water level. The rendering of the decor is blurred. A fillet of gilding has been painted on and under the inner edge and on the outer circumference of the foot. The gilding fillet on the edge has been partially erased.
