Soup plate
The plate is complete; there is some missing around the rim and a crack. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the side is socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is free of glaze. The decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and red overglaze, with touches of gold, copper green and black, in the Imari and Green Family style. It is of the vegetal type. The painted decoration is visible on the marli and on the internal background. The decoration on the marli consists of two pairs of three similar plant elements arranged in a triangular pattern. The most massive group consists of a leafy, flowering plant traced and painted in blue; each is trimmed with flowers and leaves traced and painted in red with gold and green highlights. The other pair consists of a stem traced in black and painted green, with a few flowers painted red. The central decoration is encircled by a wide ring outlined in blue and adorned with a ring of scrolls outlined in red. It is composed of a leafy, flowering plant, traced and painted in blue, with flowers traced in red and painted in red and gold. The rim of the plate is covered with an iron-brown coating.
