Soup plate

The plate is complete; there is some missing enamel around the rim and a crack has been consolidated with two iron wires. The plate is circular, with a plain rim. In cross-section, the rim is in line with the margin, which is slightly sloping, while the wall is high and curved towards the bottom, which is slightly domed. On the reverse, the plate rests on a solid ring foot, with a flat, recessed base. The base of the plate is flat and wide, and almost entirely covered with glaze. The body is pinkish-beige in color and covered with bluish-white enamel; there are enamel losses under the marli and under the base. Three traces of linear and triangular pernettes are visible under the marli, and the reverse shows small holes in the enamel. The inner base shows small linear marks and traces of wear. Two rusty iron wires run through two pairs of small circular holes; on the reverse, their ends are twisted; the decoration is hand-painted in blue underglaze and white overglaze. The decoration is floral. The decoration is painted on the marli, on the wall and on the background. The marli is decorated with two different motifs repeated in alternation. The main motif, arranged in a cross and painted white, consists of a central flower flanked by leafy stems. Between these motifs is a small floral motif, traced and painted blue. The decoration on the wall is a braid adorned with a latticework of beads, traced in blue. The background is floral. The center is occupied by a ring traced in blue surrounding a stem with leaves and a large flower, a chrysanthemum, all traced and painted in blue. The medallion is surrounded by a plant motif traced and painted white, made up of two rows of trifoliate leaves, staggered and linked by a curved stem.
