Soup plate
The plate is complete; it is missing around the rim and a break has been repaired with glue. The plate is circular with an octagonal rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is free of glaze; the decoration is traced and hand-painted in underglaze blue. The decoration covers the rim and the bottom of the plate. It is of the lake landscape type. The border is composed of a lattice braid interrupted at the corners by a half-flower. The background decoration is bordered by a double ring. The background features an oriental scene with a river and two islands. On the main island, lined with a few rocks, stands a pavilion with an oriental-style stepped roof, flanked by trees: a bamboo, a deciduous and a leafless tree; a blue-painted path leads to a thatched-roof building on poles, atop a mound. On the second island stands a building with a gable roof, flanked by trees and rocks. A small boat sails on the water in front of the island. The perimeter of the plate is covered with iron-brown plaster.
