Soup plate
The plate is complete; there are some cracks around the rim. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the sides are socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is free of glaze; the decoration is traced and hand-painted in underglaze blue. The decoration covers the rim and bottom of the plate. It is of the Chinese garden type. The marli frieze is composed of a diamond latticework braid interrupted by four zones made of two rectangular spirals in the center, flanked by triangles made of staggered lines. This braid supports four blue-painted plant groups arranged in a cross. The background is bordered by a double ring. The background features a garden scene with fence and trees, set on a flat terrace. The fence has a vertical post, and the panels are adorned with a swastika. A huge willow tree is flanked by leafy, flowering plants and a rock. To the left are two leafy, flowering plants. The rim of the plate is covered with iron-brown plaster.
