Soup plate
The plate is complete; there are some cracks around the rim. The plate is circular with a plain rim. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the sides are socked and the bottom is flat and recessed. The plate rests on a small ring-shaped foot, which is free of glaze. There is a small flaw in the paste on the inner base; the decoration is hand-painted in underglaze blue. It is of the scenic Chinese garden type. The painted decoration is visible on the husband, on the inner wall and on the inner background. The decoration on the marli is surrounded by a fillet near the edge; it is composed of three identical groups of leafy, flowering stems resting on this fillet and arranged in a triangle. The decoration on the wall is encircled by a fillet at the top of the wall and, at its base, by a diamond lattice braid underlined by a fillet. The background features a multi-panelled fence resting on a terrace that appears to be made of planks. The fence is made of sock-shaped vertical posts and latticework panels, arranged in an angular U-shape. The fence closes off a courtyard lined with tall bamboo plants. Outside the fence, on the left, is a leafy, flowering plant.
