Soup plate
The plate is octagonal in shape, with a plain rim and inlaid corners. It is complete; broken, it has been reassembled with gummed tape. The rim is thin and flat. The rim slopes slightly inwards, the wall is high and curved towards the bottom, which is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on an unglazed ring foot; the base is recessed and flat ; The decoration is hand-painted in polychrome enamels in pink, blue, green, orange, black and white on a glaze, with gold highlights, in the Famille rose style. The design is animal-like. The decoration is visible on the marli and on the background. The decoration on the marli consists of the same motif repeated on all eight sides. It features a central flower, outlined in black and painted pink and white, bordered by pairs of acanthus leaves outlined in black and painted blue, turquoise and green. On either side is a vegetal motif traced in black and painted in yellow and faded orange; hanging from it are two cords traced in pink, and trimmed with three pearls, painted in green, gold and turquoise. The background decoration is surrounded by a net traced in black. The background features two small grassy terraces, outlined in black on a pale and dark green background. To the left, a plant-like form is outlined in black and painted in pink and faded black, with two multicolored peacocks, male and female, standing on it in profile to the right. Behind this mass are stems traced in black and painted green, trimmed with leaves traced in black and painted pink, white and yellow, and others in orange, with gold highlights. To the right is a stylized rock with a hole, symbolizing the Chinese philosophy of Taoism, outlined in black and painted pink and faded black. Behind the rock rises a leafy stem traced in black and painted green, garnished with two flowers, traced in orange and painted orange and gold. Another stem is outlined in black and painted pink. A final stem, also traced in black and painted green, is trimmed with turquoise leaves and a few flowers, including a large peony painted pink and white, another in orange and gold, and a final one in white, pink and faded green. A brown iron-based coating covers the perimeter of the plate.
