Soup plate
The plate is complete. It is circular in shape with a plain rim. On the front, the rim is narrow and flat, and the high wall slopes towards the flat bottom. On the reverse, the plate rests on a milled foot, the base of which is unglazed; the bottom is recessed and flat. The body is beige, and the object is covered with a bluish-white enamel. There are three traces of a pernette in a triangular pattern on the reverse. The enamel is shiny. The enamel around the rim has partially disappeared ; The decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is of the Chinese scenic type. The decoration can be found on the rim, on the wall and on the base. The decoration on the rim consists of a fillet near the edge and a group of flowering and leafy stems repeated in a cross. The decoration on the wall is a braid encircled by two fillets; it features a double cross with a central cross, interrupted by a leaf lying between arcs. The background decoration is a Chinese scene: it features a long male figure holding a long-tailed bird in his hand, standing in front of a pavilion with a woman at its window. The scene is bordered by sections of fence and a leafy, flowering shrub. There is an iron-brown coating around the rim of the plate, and a spot of this coating on the inner wall. On the reverse, there is a painted fillet at the junction of the marli and the wall, and a ring under the base.
