Soup plate

The plate is complete; there are chips on the inner and outer edges, and breaks have been repaired with copper metal studs. It is circular in shape, with an undulating rim. The rim is thick, the marli slopes inwards, while the wall curves towards the flat bottom. On the reverse, it rests on a ring-shaped foot with a wide, flat, glaze-free base. The center is recessed and flat. There is a hand-painted mark in blue below the base: 2 crossed swords surrounded by Xs arranged in stars above D. The internal base shows numerous wear marks. The reverse features 11 pairs of copper metal studs, the ends of which are inserted into pairs of small circular holes; one pair of holes has lost its stud; the decoration is molded and painted blue. The molded decoration covers the wing and wall, while the painted decoration covers the wing and bottom. The plant motif is called Ronda. On the wing, the motif is divided into panels of two formats; the larger ones, four in number, are arranged in a cross. Near the edge, the panels are embellished with wickerwork in relief. Each panel is divided by an undulating bulge, which extends from the edge to the inner bottom, where it curves and then abuts the adjacent bulge. The wide panels are adorned with a floral motif of leafy stems and flowers, in two different patterns. The bottom is adorned with a leafy, flowering shrub, garnished with cherry-like fruit; it rests on a terrace and is flanked by leafy, flowering stems.
