Soup plate

The plate is circular with a plain rim. It is complete. The rim is thick and slightly rounded. The rim slopes inwards; the wall is curved and the base is flat. On the reverse, the plate rests on a ring-shaped foot; the bottom is recessed and flat. There are three pernette marks under the plate. The center of the bottom features a small mark made by intaglio printing: a royal crown. There is a mark printed in black under the base, consisting of the coat of arms of the United Kingdom, which is surmounted by the words: ROBERT COCHRAN & Co GLASGOW in an arc, and below which, in two registers, are the words: IMPERIAL IRONSTONE CHINA. There are linear markings on the inner base of the plate. There are inclusions in the glaze on the inner base of the plate. There are three cracks on the plate. The plate is stained on the front and reverse with clouds of an iron-rust-colored material that has seeped through the glaze into the paste ; The decoration is molded onto the marli and the wall. The decoration on the marli features a small landing near the edge. The main decoration consists of a row of wheat stalks with leaves. The marli also features equidistant channels running from the decoration to the junction of the marli and the wall. The decoration on the wall, which extends from the marli, consists of wide vertical flutes, which fade at the junction of the wall and the background. The decor is clearly rendered.
